Reinventing beauty exhibition
Open House with an exhibition by nine artists taking an unconventional look at beauty.
Blow giant bubbles, create images without a camera in the garden, challenge your ideas of beauty through a game – at an exhibition and open house that is all about exploring what we mean by beauty.
Nine artists have been invited to discover or invent a jagged notion of beauty that is appropriate for our times. The results will be on show over the weekends of 8/9 and 15/16 June (2-6pm) as an open house and exhibition “Reinventing Beauty” at Space 36, 36 Ashley road, London, N19 3AF, as part of the Crouch End Festival.
The artists taking part are: Liz Brown, La Liana, Christina Lovey, Tom Hackett, Lisa Kreuziger, Marta Pieregonczuk, Jeannette Abi Khalil, Louise Scillitoe-Brown and Ahmed Farooqui.
The artists invite the audience to engage directly in the creation of beauty; play with classical notions of beauty and the pleasures and pains of living up to someone else’s ideal; experiment in the field of the visual and challenge questions the overwhelming importance of “seeing” over “thinking” in our culture.
Adults and children are equally welcome to see the art, talk to the artists, participate in activities, and enjoy tea and home made cakes in a beautiful garden.
